Six young students with a
ges between 17 and 26 years old consist the team of FILOKALIA, who will represent Cyprus in the RITCHY youth exchange event that will take place in Vilnius, Lithuania in the beginning of August.
The leader of our team has already visited Lithuania under the framework of RITCHY event for a preliminary meeting in order to organize together with the leaders of the other participating countries the flow of the main event. Upon her return, our first meeting was held here at FILOKALIA offices in order to get prepared, understand the challenges and scope of the event, and get organized along the lines that were set in the preliminary meeting in Vilnius some weeks ago.
At the first meeting, the team spent several hours together in order to
- prepare games that will involve all the participants, trigger their interest and flourish their knowledge in Religion, European Identity, Cultural Exchange and other subjects that are within the areas of the event
- collect information as well as similarities and differences of the several religions and cultures that participate in the event
- Organize creative activities, which include traditional food, songs, dances etc. for the cultural evenings of the event.
A second meeting was held in downtown Nicosia. The progress that these youngsters have done related to the preparation of the material of the event is outstanding. Although there experience with European projects is not really big:
- they are fully into the spirit of the event,
- they have collected tones of information for the several matters that they will present,
- they have triggered their imagination toward the creation of original, funny and educational games, and
- they have already collected the food, songs and other material for the cultural evenings of the event.
Time is approaching, a little more than a week has remained before the team departs for Vilnius. However, more meetings and hours will be spent among the team members in order to get ready for enjoying, learning, giving and taking within the RITCHY event.
