In our everyday life, we meet more and more people that essentially need our help and support. It is our obligation to stay next to our fellow men, against any racial or social prejudice, and do something to change their life toward a better horizon. Toward this direction “FILOKALIA” is involved in projects and activities that promote and support better life conditions for our fellow men.
One of the primary objectives that fall under the scope of “FILOKALIA” is to take over essential activities against poverty and unemployment, which will yield significant social impact.
“FILOKALIA” isalso involved in philanthropic and social support activities. However, our vision is not to simply assist our poor fellow men, but go beyond this level, trying to understand and analyze the causes of poverty at a local level, and act preventively against it through a predictive dynamic strategy.
Αll social activities are feasible through many hours of work from volunteers, whose contribution is priceless. “FILOKALIA” intends to establish and organize volunteering in the Church of Cyprus through a dynamic database of volunteers with the related networks, filing all the necessary information per volunteer such as the activities and the time spent, and dedicate particular activities for the reward of the most dedicated volunteers. We anticipate that such a database can be actively connected with other volunteer databases in Cyprus and abroad, and especially for Cyprus establish a stronger and more effective network of volunteers.
Furthermore, “FILOKALIA” participates in and organizes innovative projects with a targeted social impact. Apart from the educational part (which is described in detail
here), “FILOKALIA” focuses in projects that involve:
- vocational guidance for socially vulnerable groups
- compassionate and psychological support to the sore and the socially weak
- preliminary medical support (primary care)
- poverty monitoring, strategic planning and efficient poverty reduction
- social entrepreneurship
- social structures sustainable development
“FILOKALIA” aims to be involved in more human-centric projects in order to eventually create solid and sustainable social structures that will be at the disposal of our fellow human beings for improving and facilitating their quality of life.
