PRESS RELEASE

The first Technical Meeting of RECULT-MAGNUM project was successfully held on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at the Holy Archbishopric of Cyprus, in Nicosia. The project is implemented within the framework of the INTERREG VA Cooperation Program Greece-Cyprus 2014-2020 and is co-funded by the European Union (ERDF) and National Resources of Greece and Cyprus. The Technical Meeting was organized by «FILOKALIA», under the auspices of Holy Archbishopric of Cyprus.

RECULT-MAGNUM aims to highlight and promote the rich cultural and religious heritage of Greece and Cyprus through the development of religious tourism on the two countries.

To achieve this goal, existing museums will be upgraded through connected digital museums, while offering enhanced digital cultural experiences to the museums’ visitors is a priority (two museums in Cyprus, one in Crete and one in the North or South Aegean will be established). This will be done using the methodology and the know-how developed in two pre-existing projects: RECULT and PSIFIAKO APOSFRAGISMA. These projects are related to methodical digitization and promotion of religious tangible and intangible cultural heritage.

During the Technical Meeting, the Primary Beneficiary («FILOKALIA») presented the project’s content. After that, a discussion on various technical issues as well as the competitions schedules took place. The discussion also focused on the site digitisation, the augmented reality and digital reality in museums, the museum equipment, and the coordination of schedules. The project lasts 24 months and is expected to be completed by June 2023.

«FILOKALIA» is the Primary Beneficiary, while the Corporate Scheme also includes the Cyprus University of Technology, the Association of Cyprus Tourism Enterprises, the Church of Greece, the Research and Development Center of the Holy Metropolis of Syros, and the Holy Archbishopric of Crete.
